Lots of people will watch Where the Wild Things Are online and will feel like they've been transported back in time. Two or three generations have grown up with the delightful book by Maurice Sendak, and now it has been made into a major motion picture. The story is about a boy named Max who is sent to bed without supper wearing his adorable footy pajamas and hood with ears. From his room he is transported to the world where, well, where the wild things are and they make Max their ruler.

Watch Where the Wild Things Are online to see a great movie that manages to combine live action, suitimation, animatronics, and CGI into a seamless spectacle that will make you feel warm and fuzzy. One night, after having gone from mischief to mischief, his mother, played by Catherine Keener, tries sending Max to his room. He bites her and runs away, angry.

Running outside in the dark he finds a fence and stumbles upon a boat. From there he stumbles upon a boat and sails away. He eventually reaches an island inhabited by seven monster known as The Wild Things, led by Carol, played by James Gandolfini. Max is crowned ruler of The Wild Things.

In addition to James Gandolfini, when you watch Where the Wild Things Are online, you'll experience a cast that includes (voices only in some cases) Forest Whitaker as Ira, Mark Ruffalo as Max's mother's boyfriend, Max Records as Max, Lauren Ambrose as KW, Catherine O'Hara as Judith, Michael Berry Jr. as Bull, Chris Cooper as Douglas, Paul Dano as Alexander, Steve Mouzakis as Mr. Elliott, and Angus Sampson as Marco.

The book was going to be made into a movie in the early 1990s, but creative differences between Maurice Sendak and the directors assigned to the project caused them to put it off. Sendak offered the job of director to Spike Jonze, director of Being John Malkovich, and the two clicked. Jonze's other projects caused delays, and eventually, in 2005, Jonze and Dave Eggers finished a screenplay based on the book. It certainly took a while for the book to be made into a movie, but when you watch Where the Wild Things Are online, you'll be seeing the culmination of decades of work.
